Yearly,  an average of two thousand students apply for the Calvin Coolidge Scholarship across all the states in the United  State of America for a fully-funded annual scholarship that helps students cover their study expenses throughout the four years of study.



The 30th President of the United States, Calvin Coolidge who served the country between 1923-and 1929,  dedicated his presidency to maintaining Americans’ economic prosperity through the boom years of the 1920s.

Many applicants secure a full ride, enough to cover their college or university expenses for four years. Candidates who do not get selected as a scholar,  are named “Coolidge Senators” and receive a smaller, modest grant. They are usually 100 of the top candidates.

This opportunity opens a pathway for economically disadvantaged students who have shown extraordinary intellectual ability.



The main criteria for the Calvin Coolidge Scholars are academic excellence, humility, devotion to service, and demonstrated interest in public policy.


Applicants for the Calvin Coolidge scholarship must be eligible and possess all requirements to increase their chances of getting qualified for the scholarship.

  • Applicants must be in their junior year of high school (or an equivalent if home-schooled) and intend to enroll in a full-time study at any accredited U.S. college or university.
  • They must be permanent residents or lawful citizens of the United States.
  • Direct family members of employees or trustees of the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation or Coolidge Scholars Program cannot apply.
  • Applicants cannot be high school seniors.
  • As an applicant, your goal must be to attend a four-year fully accredited college or university in The United States.

The Calvin Coolidge scholarship fund application is open to only junior high school students. After receiving all applications, the Coolidge scholarship board selects a set of finalists and flies them for a weekend to Plymouth Notch, Vermont, for an interview by a finalist jury at the Coolidge Historic Site. Finalists are allowed to bring along one parent.

  • Honesty statement: Providing false information or exaggerated, misleading details will automatically disqualify you. Parents are not permitted to be involved in this part.


  • Letters of Reference: Two letters of reference of no longer than 1,200 words from two individuals are required of you. One of the letters should talk about the student’s academic achievements and prowess, while the other letter focuses on character and feats outside the classroom.


  • Academic Information:  These include your test scores (CLT, SAT, PAST, ACT), transcripts and resumes, and Essays (mostly questions about The Autobiography of Calvin Coolidge. The Calvin Coolidge Scholarship is a four-year, fully funded presidential scholarship that covers tuition, lodging & board, and other fees.

The Calvin Coolidge scholarship may be used at any approved institution or university in the United States by the awardees. The award is offered to students from all walks of life who are studying any academic subject in the US

Finalists are flown in for a finalist weekend at the Coolidge Historic Site in Plymouth Notch, Vermont, where they interview with the Coolidge Scholars Finalist Jury. Students apply for the Calvin Coolidge Scholarship during their junior year of high school.

The Calvin Coolidge Scholarship recipients are informed of their award late in their junior year before they begin applying to colleges.

Seniors in high school are not eligible to apply. Those who aren’t named Coolidge Scholars are eligible for a lesser, one-time college award.

Despite the fact that only a few students are selected by Coolidge Scholars each year, one hundred of the best Coolidge Scholarship candidates are named “Coolidge Senators.”

The Coolidge Senators have been asked to attend the Senators Summit, which takes place every summer in Washington, D.C., at no cost to them. At the summit, the Senators tour the nation’s capital, learn about President Coolidge and meet other top students from throughout the country.
